  About NALDP: Best Practices
 

All NALDP members sign the Best Practices pledge, declaring their steadfast commitment to the fair and ethical practice of legal document preparation.

NALDP Members Pledge:

· Not to engage in the practice of law;

· To provide the best service to my customers in preparation of their legal documents;

· To comply fully with applicable state and federal laws;

· To ensure clear and truthful advertising;

· To clearly disclose costs and relevant terms;

· Not to represent myself as a lawyer to the public or to any individual;

· To refer the public to the appropriate professionals for legal advice or assistance with matters in which I am not trained;

· Not knowingly to prepare documents or to provide services to parties on both sides of a given legal matter;

· To hold in confidence any and all information obtained from individuals in the process of producing documents or other work products, and not to divulge that information to any outside person or agency without the express permission of the individual concerned, except as ordered by a court of law or other governmental agency authorized to demand such information;

· To support legislation incorporating these standards.
